Letter From the Sellers

When Phyllis and I bought the house, it was a simple three-bedroom rambler, with a quaint 1950’s style kitchen. We bought the house, because of the large backyard and knew from the beginning that we would remodel it. The local architect firm, Bennett, Frank and McCarthy, worked with us to design the remodeling and to supervise the construction. The house you see now is what emerged from that effort. We absolutely love this house and we spent several fun- filled years hear with our two daughters and three dogs. Our daughters have since grown up and moved out and the dogs have passed away. So it was just me and Phyliss. Although we had no intention of selling,Phyllis’s health deteriorated and the need for downsizing became increasingly apparent.

Takoma Park is an absolutely wonderful and unique community. It is, in many ways a small liberal town, where kids still walk to school, often on their own. The local schools are very good and they care for their student population. One of our daughters went through this school system and is now a medical student.

Takoma Park is one of those rare places, where one can raise a family in a small town environment and yet, with ready bus/metro access, easily travel to the urban the center of DC for work and entertainment.

Takoma Park is a progressive and environmentally friendly community. Bikes rule the road; neighbors know each other and look after each other. In democratic administrations, Takoma Park is a haven for many of the senior policy makers at both the federal and state level.

We think Takoma Park is a wonderful place to raise a family, and we think our house is a wonderful place to make a home.
