The Best Dog Parks In Silver Spring

What dog doesn't love to play – especially in a place with lots of open space and the chance to make new four-legged friends? Cities like Silver Spring and non-profit organizations are banding together to create areas where dogs can play off-leash legally, freely and most importantly safely in local dog parks.

Did you know there were 569 dog parks in 100 of America's largest cities in 2015? That's a 34 percent jump in the past 5 years making the play areas the fastest growing segment of city parks.

Our roving reporter (pun intended) and DKG videographer Dennis set out with his pup Coby to give us the scoop on Silver Spring's best dog parks.

Ellsworth Urban Dog Park

Large park with a double-gated entrance and separate areas for small and big dogs. Water is readily available.

Wheaton Regional Dog Park

Nice, big open space for dogs to run and play. Plenty of benches and shady seating areas for humans. Convenient water supply and waste disposal. Well-maintained.

Takoma Park Dog Park

Really nice playground with slope for extra exercise.  It's stocked with extra balls in case you forget yours and has a water bowl- although you must supply your own H20.
