Color of the Month: Rose Quartz
Rose quartz was named one of two Pantone Colors of the Year for 2016. It has been showing up everywhere! It’s what I would describe as a blush pink or a dusty rose and it’s the perfect color for powder rooms, little girl rooms, nurseries kitchens and more. It’s the pink of a pair of pink and well worn ballet slippers but it has now found it’s way into living rooms, kitchens, master bedrooms, upholstered furniture, bedding, accessories, etc.
Mixed with a black or dark navy in a room it creates a beautiful and unexpected contrast that elevates the look of the space. Mixed with a similar tones, muted greys off whites, linens and pale light blues, it creates dreamy understated elegance in a space. I love the idea of using it as the statement piece in a room. This makes me want to stain my wood floors really dark and buy a rose-colored sofa!
Rose quartz also works really well with its partner for the Color of the Year, Serenity, which is a baby blue that at first, it makes me think immediately of newborns. But used together in a room it’s surprising how fresh and modern the combo of these 2 colors can be. Try it on your bed with all white sheets and comforters and layer in some pale pink and blue throw pillows or a throw.
But if you have really fallen for this color like I have, paint an interior door (possibly your front door) Rose Quartz. This will look amazing if the colors in the rest of the space are neutral whites, off-whites, greys, blues, and also dark navy or black.
