Letter from the Seller
Dear Home Buyers,
18 years ago we moved into 1709 Cody Drive with our 4 year old and 4 month old. We were first drawn to the Forest Estates neighborhood because of General Getty Park – one of our son’s favorite places to spend an afternoon. We soon learned that the neighborhood, and specifically our house, had a lot of wonderful amenities beyond this great park: the metro is an easy 10 minute walk, the neighborhood Montgomery County schools are diverse, staffed with great teachers and involved parents, at the bottom of Cody Drive a short path through the woods leads to the Sligo Creek, and the families on either side of this house are amazing people. The first thing that drew us to this house was the backyard. We wanted a place where the kids and the dog could run and play outside. We added the patio and the sport court a few years after we moved in as well as a treehouse and a sandbox. The kids grew out of the treehouse and the sandbox, but we still use the sport court and the patio all the time. We have had many wonderful dinners on the patio, and then relaxing evenings while the kids played in the yard – it’s a great place for fire fly hunting in the early summer! The side yard is also a perfect for tomato plants and an herb garden and the cherry tree and azaleas out front put on a beautiful show each spring. Aside from the outside beauty, we also love the inside of our home. We opened up the kitchen and added the family room, and we pretty much live in these two rooms. The kids always did their homework at the kitchen bar and family movie night was cozy and comfortable in the family room. The room off the kitchen is a great office space overlooking Cody. The basement was a great place to hang out when the kids got older and also has lots of room for crafts and projects.
So many traditions and memories are tied up in this home – it’s been a wonderful place to call home for the past 18 years. We could go on about the reasons we love living here and suffice it to say, if we weren’t leaving the state, we wouldn’t be leaving Cody Drive. This has been a home filled with love and we wish you, the next buyers, the same good fortune.
